U.S. Settlement Program

DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. and the Court-appointed committee of lawyers representing ASR Hip System plaintiffs have announced a settlement agreement to compensate eligible ASR patients in the United States who had surgery to replace their ASR hip, known as revision surgery, as of August 31, 2013.

In order to be eligible for the U.S. settlement program, ASR patients must be U.S. citizens or residents, have received an ASR™ XL Acetabular System or DePuy ASR™ Hip Resurfacing System implanted in the United States for at least 180 days, and had their ASR Hip replaced as of August 31, 2013, for reasons related to the recall.

We encourage eligible ASR patients to contact their lawyer, if they have one, or the U.S. settlement program claims processor at www.USASRHipSettlement.com or (877) 391-3169 regarding details of the program. Please note that patients do not need a lawyer to participate in the U.S. settlement program.

In August 2010, the company voluntarily recalled the ASR Hip System worldwide and immediately set up a global helpline for ASR patients and the Broadspire program providing support for recall-related care.

U.S. ASR patients who have revision surgery after August 31, 2013, retain all their legal rights and have access to the existing Broadspire program providing support for recall-related care. For more information on the reimbursement program, please click here.
